As part of our sustainability program, St Catherine’s students participate in an extensive range of ecological sustainability initiatives on our expansive school grounds.
Some of our initiatives include:
- Cluckingham Palace – chicken coup with eggs being sold to the school community
- Aquaculture & Aquaponics maintained by students and linked to Australian Curriculum
- Permaculture orchard, and vegetable and herb gardens where produce is shared with the school community through the garden market
- Bat and bird boxes
- Creation of butterfly gardens
- Worm farms
- Wetlands for revegetation of local flora species and increasing habitat for local fauna
- Native gardens for mini-beast ecosystems
- Participation in captive breeding – Program of Endangered Southern Purple Spotted Gudgeon
